All our skin care products are 100 % natural and free from sls’s, synthetic fragrances, parabens and never tested on animals. All our soaps are also 100% natural and vegan, inspired by nature and made with the finest plant based botanicals. We use the traditional cold process method to create our soap and every single bar is free from palm oil, handmade in small batches to ensure maximum freshness.

Cold process soap is a time old traditional folk way of making soap, where you mix oils and fats like olive and coconut oil with an alkali called sodium hydroxide (also known as lye or caustic soda) Combining these ingredients creates a chemical reaction called saponification which creates soap! The real magic of this process is that if you carefully calculate the amount of lye used, there is no trace of it in your finished bar of soap!  Instead you are left with skin nourishing glycerine. Glycerine acts as a humectant which helps maintain moisture and stops that dry feeling you get after using soap. The reason you might feel like your skin is too dry after using soap is because many manufacturers extract this skin loving glycerine from their soap to add to lotions and creams. Our soap is packed full of natural glycerine which will keep your skin feeling moisturised and hydrated. Plus we also use minimal heating of our oils using our special extra cold process method, ensuring we are maintaining all our plant based oils beneficial properties while being as ecological as possible.

Even though we use lye in the making of our soap, the lye is changed during the saponification process leaving no trace of it in our finished bars. Only our 100% natural ingredients are left.

The law that you are only required to list the ingredients in your finished bar of soap. As their is no lye in the finished bar, there is no need to list it.

In short no. You can only make soap by mixing oils with lye. This is how soap is formed. You can purchase kits called melt and pour which already have your base soap made up (created using lye as we talked about above) you then melt this and add your botanicals and fragrance, so essentially you are making soap without having to handle the lye yourself as someone else has already done this. Unfortunately these ready to melt bases come with additives and chemicals we feel are toxic and not beneficial to your skin. By making soap from scratch you can formulate a truly wonderfully nourishing natural bar of soap.
